* Position
Summary: - The Telesales Representative is responsible for retaining
and growing customer business using telephone. He/She uses available resources
to learn the customers’ business and identify business needs, and then
proactively contacts customers to position UPS products and services to meet
those needs. He/She is responsible for prioritizing customer opportunities and
focusing attention on accounts with the greatest opportunity and likelihood of
success. He/She answers customer
questions as required to support customer business and resolves billing issues
as needed.
* Key
Accountabilities (Point Form): + Use Sales Tool for
Customer Research and Sales Strategy Development
- Using information from the sales tools to identify new sales
opportunities and opportunities to retain existing customer business.
- Developing account sales and pricing strategies based on
data trends provided by the tools.
- Focusing attention on accounts with the greatest opportunity
and likelihood of success. + Identifies and
Addresses Customers Business Needs - Contacting
customers via telephone communication for 500-600 accounts with an
estimated annual transportation spend of $15,000 to $50,00, to identify
customer business needs, selling additional products and services, and
retaining current business. - Building
a consultative relationship with customers to identify business needs and
position products and services. - Using
questioning techniques to learn about customer business, shipping or other
UPS service needs. - Using
knowledge of customer business to demonstrate value UPS can offer. - Positioning
UPS products/services that support customer’s business. - Responding
to sales lead opportunities within assigned base
+ Manages Accounts and
Resolving Customer Issues
- Responding
to customer questions, complaints, inquiries in a timely, accurate manner - Resolving
customer claims and damages + Coordinates with
Other UPS Sales Functions - Identifying
opportunities to engage e-Commerce and subsidiary business units on a
selective basis. - Working
with Outside Sales via telephone to support the business.
+ Stays Current with
UPS and Competitor Products and Services
- Maintaining
up to date knowledge of UPS products and services. - Researching
competitor strategies, capabilities, and pricing patterns through using
sales tools and marketing information, and questioning customers. - Identifying
ways to position UPS products advantageously in comparison to customers.
+ Ensures Contractual
Compliance/Securing New Contracts
- Reviewing
current contracts to ensure contractual compliance with stated terms
(e.g., shipping volume being met, packaging). - Writting
new contracts that meet customer’s shipping needs and make good business
sense for UPS - Contacting
customers with outstanding billing issues - Explaining
consequences for not paying bills. - Completing
administrative tasks in a timely, accurate manner - Recording
and/or updating all account activity in sales tools. - Completing internal
forms in a timely manner to ensure appropriate follow up. - Staying
current with administrative tasks.
